When testing the boots, the following are carried out:
- physical testing
- explosive testing
Еxperimental setup is designed to measure the pressure coming trough the boot into heel portion of the leg of wearer if testing charge overburden of 3,0 cms blow up under the heel of the boot.
The experimental assembly is shown in the figure below. A KISTLER pressure transducer, model 6215, is used to measure the pressure coming through the sole to the wearer's foot. The apparatus for the experiment should be able to accommodate a suitable weight of 30 to 75 kilograms.
The space between the test charge and the shoe is filled with fine dry sand inside a 100 mm diameter ring of hard paper or plastic 3 cm high.
The test charge used is nitrohexane with a mass of 30 gms for AM-L, 35 gms for AM-35 and 50 gms for AM-50, which will be initiated by an electric detonator from below in a vertical position. For the test, 3 boots are used and the test result will be the arithmetic mean of the three measurements. The result should be a pressure of less than 1% entering the boots.
The heel of the mine protection boot is resistant to particles with a velocity of at least 450 m/s. Mine protection boots will provide the required protection in accordance with STANAG 2920 V50.
